Period 4 - Click HERE to get the notes for your second booklet (the blank one).  There are eight slides in the presentation, and there are 8 pages in your mini-booklet.  If you can't infer what you need to do, it's one slide per page.  You are to copy (by hand) the information from the slides into your mini-booklet as-is :)  This is due on Tuesday.

Remember to bring in your summer reading projects before you leave school on 8/31.  Please do not interrupt our class to submit them.  Come in between classes, before or after school.

Period 3 - You will get your HW in class Friday :)

Periods 2, 5 and 6 - If you had mistakes on your sentence structure/vocab HW, and you kept your paper to make improvements, be sure to do that.  It's due when you return.  In addition, if you did not submit your summer reading journal, Tuesday is the last day!

Click HERE to take the Multiple Intelligences Test.   Be sure to read the directions then take the test, and answer the questions as honestly as possible.  I knew better than to give me any props for singing!   Once you get your results, write down the findings.  Please do not do it verbatim; we want you to list the intelligences that emerge for you, then briefly summarize the explanations.  It should not take more than 15 minutes!!!!  We're trying to alleviate the load this weekend, so don't go crazy with this assignment.  Be succinct yet thorough! (Oooooh, a paradox!  However, it can be done!)

Lastly, print the Declaration of Independence.  Click HERE to access it then bring it to class.  No need to read it; we will do that together :)

OK, love you all!  Make good choices over the weekend.  Know we'll miss you!  :)

Homework - ALL CLASSES

PERIODS 2, 5, and 6:
You are going to create more sentences with your vocab words for your HW.  Woohoo!   Before you do, however, please read below:

Good news - On the right of the blog (under the graphic of the novel), there is a link that will take you to the definitions we'll use for the exam.  In the future, we will post the definitions ahead of time so we'll have common meanings.  They will all be posted in the same spot for easy access later.  Sorry...BAD C-ROD!

OK, so based on what you learned in class today, you will create five simple sentences, five compound, five complex, and four compound-complex using your vocab words.  Do not repeat words, be sure to label your sentences, and underline your vocab words.  Don't forget your context clues. Do it on your own paper...not in your journal.  :)

Periods 2 & 6, this is due on Thursday; Period 5, this is due on Friday :)

PERIODS 3 & 4:
Using the link, you are going to create TWO mini-booklets for a parts of speech and sentence structure review:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmPZlFBR6I8&feature=related&safe=active
http://library.thinkquest.org/J001156/makingbooks/minibook/index.htm

In ONE booklet, you are going to arrange it like the one provided at this link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7vANNZKV7HcSGdiNDBmcV9EWXM/edit

We know that it says PART 2, but don't worry.  COPY it by hand AS-IS!
In the OTHER booklet (which is blank), write nothing.  You are going to bring this to class, and we will do PART 1 together!

Period 4, this is due on Thursday; Period 3, this is due on Friday :)

ALL CLASSES: REMEMBER TO SIGN-UP TO FOLLOW US.  Enter your email at the top of the right-hand column, and you will receive an notification anytime we post something new to the blog!

Good News - English Language Classes!

Per our conversation in fifth period about the three Cambridge tiers, we did a little research!  GOOD NEWS!  Our English Language class falls under the Language tier!

Click HERE to access the site to see which classes fall under which tier!  (General Paper, this might be good for you to peruse as well!)  Remember, you need at least one credit in each tier (then an additional three in any other tier)  in order to get your AICE diploma!  Just think, with you passing last year's test, and WHEN you pass this year's test,  you already have two of the tiers DONE!

YAAAYYYYY!!!!!

GP - Vocab #1 HW

Click on the CHECKERED FLAG below to access your words for Unit One.  Your assignment is to fill out a card for each of your words.   CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE CARDS.  You must do your best to fill out every space on the card.  You will not have to fill out cards for your roots or prefixes... only for the words.  You are allowed to print graphics for the picture box and glue them on; however, we find it more useful if you draw them on your own.  We don't expect Vincent van Gogh masterpieces; it just helps you to remember the words when you create your own graphic.  It's up to you.  This is due next class.
